Lyle Osborn, 82, of Pond Creek passed away on July 25, 2023, at Community Health Center in Wakita. Lyle was born in Salt Fork, OK on September 23, 1940, to Lyle and Delores Osborn. Lyle was raised in Pond Creek and graduated from Pond Creek High School in 1959. Lyle joined the Army on August 21,1961 and served in the Vietnam War as a photograph interpreter. While in the Army Lyle met the Love of his life, Helen Phelps on a blind date and they were married on September 29,1962 in Ellicott City, MD.
They settled in Pond Creek after Lyle was discharged from the Army. Lyle always enjoyed tinkering on just about anything, and spending as much time with the grandkids and great grandkids as he could.
Lyle is survived by his two daughters Julia Gholson Lee of Flagler, CO and Kim Jantz and husband Larry of Pond Creek: grandchildren, Kayla Monroe and husband Thomas of Westminster SC, Kristin Songer and husband Abe of Walhalla, SC, Kole Jantz, Amanda McDonald and husband Christopher, Kylie Gholson and Bradon Lee.
8 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Cole and husband Robert, Peggy Schoonover, Debbie Aebi and husband Jerry. Lyle is preceded in death by his wife, Helen, parents and one sister Marye Lou Shafer.
Visitation will be 6:00-7:30 p.m. July 27, 2023, at Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek, OK. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2023, at the Nash Christian Church officiated by Pastor Gary Miller. Interment will follow in Pond Creek Cemetery, Pond Creek, OK. Military Rites by United States Army Honor Guard.
